WIP #2- COMPLETED GRANNY SQUARE SKIRT
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. I hope you are all doing well. A few days ago I shared the beginning part of my current work in progress which involved granny squares.
In my previous post, I did something different when working on the squares which were to work with one colour first before the other. Doing that made the squares easier to make and faster too.
So I was able to finish the skirt quickly. Since I already knew the number of squares I needed for each side. I used the join-as-you-go method which is not my favorite because I don't think it comes out as neat as joining with the needle after the squares are done.
Generally, I prefer to join with my needle afterward, which is what I used for the lower part. The join-as-you-go method just seemed faster so I used it for the main squares.
After getting all the necessary squares joined. I worked on the waist part with the granny pattern but without adding any chains in between. This made the waist a bit smaller than the rest of the skirt. For the lower part, I also used the granny method but added chains in between stitches. Afterward, my skirt was complete.
I am presently working on the cardigan. I'll share my progress on that in a few days.
I am also excited to share that I decided to also learn to knit. For a while, I've thought about how nice it would be to know knitting alongside crochet. What has delayed my learning process has been the inability to get knitting pins.
I asked some of the people I thought might know where I can get and fortunately someone did. It was a market on the island, although I had to walk around for a long while from store to store before I was able to find one that sell. They did not have the exact type I was looking for but by the time I got there, I was too tired to object. So I settled for what they had.
I got home and I was eager to get started. I already had a couple of youtube videos that would help me get started. It was all fun and games until it was time to cast on and my hands Didn't co-operate. It was extremely hard to get a grip on anything. I would have given up if I didn't remember this was also my experience the first time I picked up a crochet pin.
Eventually, I was able to cast on some stitches and it was time for the knitting proper. Since the yarn kept sliding off the pins I had to redo the cast on a couple of times. Thankfully after several tries, I started knitting. I still haven't figured out the best way to hold the pins yet and I also wonder if I'm doing the right thing. Once I get better with knitting, the next thing would be to learn to purl. I hope my knitting journey is as smooth as my crochet journey.
Thank you for stopping by❤️
Hello Blezyn, it's always good to see your projects, they are so beautiful. This skirt was great, I like this color combination. What about the openings in the fabric? Is the underwear not visible when you wear it? That would worry me a bit 😅.
Thank you so much. Yeah, people often ask about the hole but it's not so visible when you wear it, so if you wear matching underwear, no one can see through.
This is so beautiful and neat. I wish to learn this, I really love it. Thanks for sharing
I believe if you put your heart into it, it will be easy to learn. Thank you for your comment!
Wow 😍. That's beautiful.

You did an excellent job with that nice skirt! 😍 I'm glad you decided to learn knitting, you'll be a good knitter for sure, just like with crochet.
I hope I am, I think knitting is a bit more complicated than crochet but I will try my best. Thank you!
I believe granny will love the skirl because I know all women in general love colorful things designed in diverse shapes. You well for granny and my regards to her.
Thank you so much for your kind words
