#Wednesday Walk - Along the Durban Beachfront
This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.
If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.
We haven't been out on that many outings lately. But that's life...and life happens...lol!
But driving through Durban the other day, gave me the idea to look into my folders and find some photos along the Durban beachfront.
Point Beach is at the southern end of the Durban Beachfront. I shared some photos about the Point area last Friday in my post about 5 Things To Do and See in Point, Durban.
For today's post, I'll start just above Ushaka Marine World, at Addington Beach.
For my first photo, I stood on a balcony on the roof of a surf shop. This is looking out over Addington Beach, with Point in the background.
From here, let's move up along the Golden Mile.
The Golden Mile (or, colloquially, "The Mile") is the popular stretch of beachfront in the city of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, including the promenade that runs along with it. It runs roughly from uShaka Beach (where the uShaka Marine World is located) in Point Waterfront to Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World in the north and now includes a route directly to Moses Mabhida Stadium. It abuts the central business district of the city to its west.

About halfway up the Golden Mile, you find the Bay of Plenty Beach. There are some beautiful gardens where you can go for a walk. From these gardens, you also have a beautiful view of the ocean.
Both the photo above and the next photo were taken while standing on the roof of a coffee shop. The coffee shop is down below me on the level of the promenade.
Moving close to the edge, looking out over the beach and the pier stretching into the ocean.
To the right is this skateboard area where the youngsters can have fun on their skateboards.
On the northern end of the Golden Mile is Battery Beach.
Let's take a look at the pier with some fishermen being active on the pier.
Zooming in on the fishermen with a ship in the background...
Looking straight down the pier.
Going further up north, passing the Suncoast Casino, we go beyond the Golden Mile, toward the Blue Lagoon.
On one of my previous early morning outings, I took the next two shots of some fishermen getting ready to start fishing just as the new day arrived.
On Blue Lagoon Beach, getting ready to start fishing...
Getting the full picture.
And that's all for today, folks!
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
Beautiful walk @jacoalberts 😊 nice views along the beach.
The skatepark is a good place to take some action photos.
I like the capture of the silhouettes of the fishermen 🤓
Have a great Wednesday 👋🏻

Another beautiful place you shared!
Yes, sometimes that happens...lol! Sometimes you forget about some of the photos you've got...and then one day you find them again and they come in handy!
Glad you enjoyed my photos, @lhes!
what awesome shots the wide walk ways there impress me
We also have an area called bay of Plenty in NZ
one day I will catch some guys skating at the local skatepark here
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
We love walking there when it's not crowded! And it can become quite busy before it actually gets crowded because it's so wide and spacious.
Also a Bay of Plenty in NZ? That sounds interesting!
Yes, catching the guys at your local skatepark sounds like a great idea!

Looks like a lovely walk and destination.
It can get very crowded during the peak holiday season. But out of season, it is a lovely area to go for a walk!

Hi @tydynrain!
Yes, Durban is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South Africa! During the peak holiday season, it becomes very busy. That's when we rather avoid the area...LOL!
But I'm glad you enjoyed my photos! As you can see, it was nice and quiet when I took these photos😅👍!
Have a great day!!
Thanks much for that! I didn't know that about Durban! Haha...yes, I would stay clear during the busy tourist season too!
Yes, I did indeed, and I definitely prefer it like that, nice and quiet!
