Random Thought of the Day - Daily Contest #27 - How Did You Choose Your Username ?

in Proof of Brain10 days ago

Hey folks. How is everyone doing.

It was great to see so much engagement in yesterday's post. 😀 We had 9 participants and 23 comments ! That's a new record. 😀

For today's #rtotd I would like to ask you how you choose your username here on #proofofbrain ?

My username was originally futureanalogue. I choose this as it is my DJ name but that account got hacked so I had to start again.

I had however created a second account along the way to to play the game splinterlands so I just started using this account instead and that is why I am now called elricmoonslayer.

The name is from books by Micheal Moorcock - Elric Stormbringer.

Quote of the Day

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened" — Dr. Seuss

I have started this competition in the hope that this will prove to be a fun and interesting way to get people to interact and engage with each other here on #proofofbrain

It could be about anything really. Ranging from a memorable quote to a story or maybe just a random question about life itself. Literally any subject is open for discussion but I will try and not let it get too weird !

You are also welcome to talk about any other subject you like.

To enter the competition you simply have to make any type of comment on this post and I will do a daily random draw for 3 lucky winners.

You are not required to Upvote, Re-Blog or Follow but it would be nice.

1st Place = 5 POB + 1 Upvote
2nd Place = 1 POB + 1 Upvote
3rd Place = 0.50 POB + 1 Upvote

Congratulations To Yesterdays Winners

1st Place - @gocada
2nd Place - @drutter
3rd Place - @yubensy

I use https://www.random.org/ to pick the winner with TRUE RANDOMNESS !!

RANDOM.ORG offers true random numbers to anyone on the Internet. The randomness comes from atmospheric noise, which for many purposes is better than the pseudo-random number algorithms typically used in computer programs

Thanks for reading. #rtotd

Peace, Graham.

This competition is more challenging than just making random comments because there is some direction although random.

I always thought your name was Eric. It sucks that your account was hacked.

I was mining and wanted to learn from people who were mining alt coins. I found an article in a crypto blog about mining and the author said he made more crypto blogging than mining.

I wanted to give it a try. I saw the crypto world as a monopoly game and I wanted to mine it all.

Thanks! :D

When I was a teenager, computers happened. We got a few of them in the high school I was going to, and at some point we had to make logins. My name is D Rutter, and they chose our logins based on that, so I was drutter. When I moved away for college in the mid 90s, the internet came out for home use, and I started using drutter for signups like hotmail. I'm ALMOST the only popularized "drutter" on the internet. I was the only one for the longest time, but then some weird golf putting gimmicky product came out, and they used that name (something to do with 'putter')... I think the product failed, but if you do a search for me, they still come up sometimes :P

Ah this is a fun one! Plint was actually my nickname in high school. One of my friends started calling me plint and it just kind of stuck with everybody. So when I need a name that I can relate to, but doesn't give away my full name for privacy reasons I use it still. It's also the only nickname I have ever like, usually I hate it when people try to shorten my name (Pauline is my name btw) to Paula or plien but plint works for me. The only downside I guess is that people often assume I am a dude, when in fact I am a dudette haha

I must admit I assumed you were a dude for some reason. Pretty stupid really. Plint is neither feminine or masculine.

I must say calling someone plien coz there name is Pauline is just being lazy.

Haha it is totally lazy and that is why I don't like it haha

Congratulations to all the winners and I must say random or no random you mates deserve to be in that list I celebrate you all.

It pleases me to see another great opportunity to be here again and to at least use my keypad to say my mind again as it is a free way to discuss any issues.

I won't be saying much hopefully, but will love to talk on your quote.for the day, which to me it has a lot of meaning and it is a way to actually prove that all that happens in life happens for a reason.

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened" — Dr. Seuss

Just like you said and it was a quote from Dr seuss,to me am going to be using this in my own understanding and that is why whatever I typed here is base in my opinion and how I interpret this quote.

We are meant to make mistakes in life, but our ability to come out of it is vital and important, one thing about life is that people tend to see Making mistakes as the end of life and they shield lot of tears and with this they give room to unwanted thought and definition of who they are from human opinions.

I do tell people to make is not a crime, cause to me it is another way to let you know that you can do better than what you have done now, many don't know that mistakes at times is a favour in disguise, cause it is a way of making things perfect.

As I don't preach that people should always make just because they want to prove a point or comes better, the place of perfection too should not be taken for granted, but of all people who commit one error or the other should not be see as failure as some set of people do say.

Even duo our society does not accept error anymore this days, but it is inevitable in the race of man

Random thought

Your user name makes me think of the Pink Panther.

I guess it's the way the letters are arranged. Was there a Pink Panther movie in 2010?

Posted via proofofbrain.io

I don't know about that to be honest, but my name is a short form of positive thinker (pthker), trust have done justice to that, thanks for asking
